Nest protect reset

BeeRGee

Hi, just moved into a house with a nest protect in hallway. No instructions left by previous owner and never had one before. I’ve tried connecting it to my network but says needs factory reset. It won’t seem to do that though I press & hold central button, it chimes then says ‘checking network’ then….nothing. No countdown, no serial no etc which Nest help days should happen. Anyone any ideas? Also previous owner took the other smoke detectors away, do you need special ones to work with Nest (I’m in Scotland btw with new regs)

Reset Nest Protect:

  1. Press and hold your Protect’s button. It will chime and glow blue. Continue holding the button down.
  2. Release the button when your Protect starts to say its version number.
  3. Your Protect will start a verbal countdown and tell you it’s erasing all your settings.
  4. After a few seconds your Protect will reset to its factory default settings.

Once reset, here are the steps to set it up:

Thanks for replying however those are exactly the instructions I already tried….when I keep holding the button down it chimes then nothing, light goes off, it doesn’t say it’s version number etc, hence my question

No worries, good to confirm you've tried that. Let me ask a specialist to suggest next steps or other options here.
