New Google doorbell

  • I cannot get my BT WiFi paired with my doorbell as the app on my mobile hasn't detected it despite having live devices currently paired this way.  The battery door bell is on usb charging with light flashing slow blue continuously. Any suggestions will be gratefully appreciated

If the status light is slowly pulsing blue, that's good, it means it's ready to connect.

Try these steps:

  1. Make sure your doorbell is within 15 - 20 ft (4 - 6 m) of the Wi-Fi router and your phone during setup.
  2. Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your phone or tablet, if not already turned on.
  3. Turn off mobile/cellular data.
  4. If you haven't already, download, open and login to the Google Home app (not the Nest app) from the Google Play Store.
  5. Tap Devices > Add + > New device.
  6. The app will try to look for nearby devices. If prompted, select the Nest Doorbell battery as the device you want to set up. This step uses Bluetooth to detect your camera, so make sure it is turned on. If it's already turned on, try turning it off and on again and/or restarting your phone. After doing this you may need to restart your doorbell. Press the reset button once and wait for the doorbell to restart. You’ll hear a chime and the light on the front of the doorbell will turn white. Make sure you don’t hold down the reset button longer than 20 seconds or it will be reset to factory defaults.
  7. Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code on the back of the doorbell. You can also tap Continue without scanning and enter the numbers near the QR code.
  8. Follow the rest of the steps in the app.

TYVM for that i feel i'm getting closer to getting this working but

  1. when i disconnect the charging cable it goes off - no lights and its had 4 hours charging yesterday and today
  2. on the app on my mobile Google home i only get as far as privacy guidelines page and then i cannot do anything ; moving finger on screen or pressing the down arrow nothing; i get offered a bluetooth device NLMLE but it wont let me connect to it
  3. i tried searching for the device just using bluetooth but nothing
  4. its brand new out of the box
  5. is the only button on the back of the phone / camera the reset button (just above the two hex head screws)? it doesn't seem to do anything
  6. the device does make a sound when i first connect it to power but that is all
  7. its still slow blue flashing
  8. is there anything else to try

I have reset door bell and tried to pair it numerous times using QR and entering code manually but still it will not pair with the system. The network does not find the door bell at all !

You won't be able to set it up in your phone's Bluetooth settings, it must be done in the Google Home app. There are no buttons (per se) on the back of the doorbell. The restart/reset pin is located below the USB port on the back of the doorbell, which is indeed above the hex screws.

Perhaps you can try with a different phone or tablet?

I will start from the beginning so you have all the info. I changed the home Wi-Fi so I went in and deleted all devices and re-installed the cameras but I cant get the door bell to add to the nest. I have checked power to it , reset device and bought it in and put it next to the router but still it will not recognise the door bell device.
