No more firmware update date?

Hey, the website which shows the current nest hardware firmware version does no longer show a last changed date. Why? Can you please reinstate?

Hi fabnapp,

We're sorry to hear that the current Nest hardware firmware version does not show up ― let's check it out. A few questions: what Nest devices do you have? When did you notice that you're unable to see the firmware version? Are you using your phone in opening the link? It would help a lot if you could try other devices to open this link. Open it through a web page on your computer or other mobile device. In the meantime, follow these steps below:

Check the firmware version of your speaker or display

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings > Device information.
  4. Under "Technical information," check for Cast firmware: "X.XXX.XXXXX." If the device is on Fuchsia, check for System firmware version: "X.XXXXXXXX.X.XXXXXXX"

Check the version on your Nest display:

  1.  Swipe up from the bottom of the display screen.
  2. Tap Settings > About device. You should find your "Cast firmware version."
    • For Nest Hub (1st gen) and Nest Hub Max: If “Fuchsia Version” is also listed, this means your device runs in Fuchsia.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan

tks, i know my firmware version and can read that site. my Point is it is now missing a "last changed" date so you instantly know when something has been updated last. tks

Hey there,

Understood. Would it be okay for me to ask a few more questions to narrow things down? When you open the link that you provided and you scrolled down, are you not able to see a dropdown on the titles "Current Preview Program firmware version" and "Current Production firmware version"? Could you open the link on a different phone/tablet or through your computer and check if there's a difference? When checking on my end all the information are still there. When was the last time you checked the firmware link?

Looking forward to your responses.

Regards,

Dan

None of that is the issue. Those are correct. What is missing is the sub headline that was saying "Last Update on January 23" or something so that you can see if anything changed since yesterday at all

Hi fabnapp,

Apologies for the delayed response. About your concern, as far as the support page was active, it does not show the date the firmware version was last changed. Firmware updates are done in stages and multiple factors affect the change like your Wi-Fi connectivity, since it’s an over-the-air update or your location/region.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Dan

Interesting, because all the non-us versions of this page do show it.

This is not a date that says when an update shall drop (I know Google hates to be explicit about dates. See Coolwalk) but when this site was last updated which is just good housekeeping. Tks

Hi fabnapp,

I understand. I’ve also tested it here on our end and it’s also doing the same, however, the date that you see there is not about the most recent firmware update but the most recent changes on the web content. I hope this sheds some light.

Kind regards,

Dan
