Philips Hue bluetooth (no bridge) not discovered by me Google nest

Megz1

I have just switched from Amazon Echo to Google Nest. I was using two outlets and two philips bulbs. The outlets connected perfectly the first time through vesync. However, my nest is not finding the bulbs.

  • I checked if they connected through the echo and they did.
  • I did a factory reset through the alexa app and then disconnected them from alexa.
  • The bulbs are not discoverable in the philips hue app either. So I can't reset there.
  • Google home is still not finding them and I cannot find a way to factory reset through google home app, like I was able to in the alexa app.

Any suggestions?

Hey Megz1,

Thanks for reaching out and trying those steps — let's see what's going on.

  1. Ensure the bulb is working on its own- If the bulb is plugged into a lamp, make sure the lamp is plugged in and the outlet works. Power the bulb on and off without Google Home. Try using the bulb in a different lamp or socket.
  2. Power cycle the bulbs- Turn the switch or unplug for ten seconds, then turn it back on.
  3. Make sure your Google Home app is updated- you can reinstall it to make sure.
  4. Factory reset your bulb
  5. Reboot your router and Google Nest speakers.
  6. If the bulb still doesn't appear on the Philips Hue and Google Home app, coordinate with Philips Hue support team for additional assistance.

Hope this helps!

Best,

Alex

Hey there,

It's me again. I don't want to be a nudge but I'd like to check if you still need help with your Philips Hue lights and Nest speaker? Did the troubleshooting above help?

Thanks,

Alex

1) bulbs are working fine on their own.

2) power cycling did not fix

3) Google home app is up to date

4) I can only factory reset bulbs through Alexa with echo plugged in. They are not being discovered by the Philips hue app.

5) reboot of router and nest did not fix
