Hey Jonsoe04,

Gotcha. If you have the Philips Hue Bluetooth lights, you should only be using one app. Try removing your lights on the Philips Hue Bluetooth app by resetting it and set it up on the Google Home app. Also, you can only connect up to 6 Bluetooth-enabled smart devices.

Give these steps a try:

  1. Plug in the Bluetooth-enabled light in the same room as the Google Nest or Home speaker or display, then turn it on.
  2. Open the Google Home app.
  3. At the top-left, tap Add > Set up device > New device.
The Bluetooth-enabled light appears as an option in the Google Home app.
  4. Select the bulb from the app. The physical bulb blinks when selected.
  5. Choose a room for the bulb.
If the customer wants to create a custom room, tap Add custom room > type in room name > tap Next.
  6. Type in the desired name for the bulb.
  7. The bulb may blink a few times. When the Google Home app says that the light is ready, tap Done.

Thanks,

Alex

Hey Jonsoe04,

That certainly hasn't been for you — let's check this out.

A few questions: do you have the regular Philips Hue light or the Bluetooth one? Also, are there any recent changes on your network or set up recently?

Give these steps a try:

  • Unlink and relink your Philips Hue account on your Google Home app.
  • Reboot your lights, Google Home and router to refresh the connection.
  • Make sure your applications are updated.

Looking forward to your response.

Best,

Alex

I do not have a hue bridge and can control the lights from my phone so i think i have Bluetooth lights. I recently moved my router closer to the room my lights are in, but i experienced problems before that.

I rebooted all my things but nothing worked. And when i try to link my philips hue account in the google home app i get the message: "could not reach philips hue  please try again"

Hey Jonsoe04,

Thanks for the details. Are you using an app to control your lights? Could you provide us the exact name and model of your Philips Hue lights so that we can check. Also, have you tried resetting your Google Home and lights?

Kind regards,

Alex

Hey Jonsoe04,

Thanks for the update.

Are you able to control it via voice? If not, are you getting any message from your Google Home? Try saying "OK Google, sync my devices".  Also, give resetting your Google Home a try to see if that helps.

Alex

Hey Jonsoe04,

When you remove the lights from the Philips Hue app, did you reset your lights? If not try resetting it using these steps:

You can reset any Hue smart light accessory to its default settings in the Hue app:

1. Go to the Settings tab.

2. Tap Accessories.

3. Select the accessory from the list.

4. Tap Reset at the bottom of the screen and follow the on-screen instructions.

5. Set it up in the Google Home app.

Thanks,

Alex

Hey Jonsoe04,

Thanks for updating us. To confirm, what Google Home or Google Nest speakers or display do you have? Are you getting any message when you're controlling your lights using voice commands? Could you provide us the cast firmware version of your device?

I'm having a very similar situation:

- Set up Phillips Hue bluetooth bulb through the "smart set-up" in the Google Home App.
- Worked fine for months, both with Voice Control and with the Google Home App.
- A month or two ago, the controls in the Home App became non-responsive, or showing it as off when it was on and other buggy things like that.
- We removed the Light from the Home App, and tried to set it up again, and have run into all the same issues as mentioned above. The only way to get the bulb to work was to start a Phillips Hue account and control it with that app.

Exactly what happened to me
