I've recently purchased two sets of Phillips hue lightbulbs.
They both appear in the Google home app as 'set up 1 bulb' and then shows the Phillips hue bulb, however when trying to connect it then displays 'something went wrong'.
After this it will no longer even find the bulb despite power cycling and factory resetting the device.
To be clear I am not using a hue bridge, however the simple light bulb should work without.
I also have a Google nest display in the same room, and the home app I am using is on my pixel 6.
Researching this, it seems a common issue, however only solutions I have found reference getting the hue bridge.
Seems like google/Phillips connectivity is really lacking here, and the devices do not do what is advertised and the functionality is fairly broken.
It should be an easy 'seemless' setup as advertised.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi thomoj98,
Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.
I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should, so let’s get this resolved. Is your Philips Hue Bluetooth-enabled light? If so, try the troubleshooting steps below.
You can check this helpful article too. Set up and control Philips Hue Bluetooth®-enabled devices
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks
