Presence Sensing in my Leaving Home Routine

sjtryon

Somewhere in the past couple weeks, presence sensing was turned on, and then turned off. As a result, whenever my Leaving Home routine finishes its work, it now asks me if I want to switch everything over to being "Away". I don't. More importantly, I don't want to be asked the question because the feature is OFF (the feature itself and for each phone in the household).

How do I stop it from asking me this question?

Hey there,
Just wanted to hop in here to see if we still needed help on this. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns as I will be locking this in 24 hours.

Have a great day.

You’re a community specialist and you post in the thread to close it rather than helping with the problem? That’s completely useless. How does anyone make contact to obtain support for google products?

Hey there,
Sorry for the late response, but I wanted to drop in here to help.

I understand that these issues can be confusing but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

I was just checking to see if you still needed help on this since it had been some time since it was originally posted. Would you mind providing me with what troubleshooting steps you've taken?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

The troubleshooting I've done has included assuring all references to presence sensing are presently disabled wherever I was able to find them. Those features are turned off for all of the phones for both members of the household as is the entire feature itself. That was where I originally started, but when that failed, I tried a variety of different variations, poured through all sorts of online resources that mentioned the feature and tried a few of the suggestions. But still, the "Leaving Home" routine always concludes by asking me if I want to turn on the feature.

The feature remains disabled and I had to create a new routine that I trigger when I leave my home so that I'm not asked the question. But the "Leaving Home" routine also "owns" (can't be used elsewhere) verbal commands that are preferable and at some point I may actually want to use the feature which seems so deeply coded into the app.

Hey there,
Would you mind reviewing this article as I believe it has some good information that may help the situation.

Please let me know if that does not help and we can look a little further.

Yes, I saw the response, Garrett, and it wasn't helpful at all. Sorry.

EVERY time I run the routine called "Leaving home", a routine that Google hard-coded into the Google Home app and which triggers using the keyword, "Goodbye", the routine will do all the things that I ask of it and then conclude by asking me: "By the way, do you want to set your home to away?" I don't want to. No. I never do. I have everything configured such that it isn't necessary. More specifically, I do NOT want to be asked this question EVERY TIME THE ROUTINE RUNS!

Worse yet, if I don't answer the question, Google continues with, "Sorry, I don't understand. Do you want to set your home to away? Sorry, I don't understand. Do you want to set your home to away? Sorry, I don't understand."

And to add even more nonsense to this problem, ALL of the presence sensing features have been completely disabled within the app! There is no reason for this question (or the continued string of questions)!

I've solved this issue by creating my own routine that effectively accomplishes the same things without the crap. But I've been using the Leaving home routine for a long time and this new set of questions is the result of a software "upgrade" from Google. So the habits I've formed over a very, very long time now have to be different and use a different keyword because of impacts that Google is forcing. More importantly, why isn't the routine smart enough to know that I have presence sensing features turned off and, consequently, not ask the question(s)?

[BTW, when is Google going to let us change the name we use to get its attention and initiate actions? I've got some REALLY choice words I'd like to use in place of 'Google'.]
