Prevent a speaker from interacting with a smart plug or smart light in another room

Hi

I have smart speakers in two rooms and in each room I have smart plugs which control lamps. I have discovered that a person in one room can switch off and on the lamp in the other room and I am looking at how I can prevent this. Ideally I would like the lights to be called lamps or lights in the rooms but for only the speaker in the room to control them. Is that possible?

There's no setting or feature to prevent that unfortunately. All devices connected to the same Wifi network can be controlled by a phone or tablet connected to that WIfi network. The only way you could prevent this, if your router supports this, is to create a separate Wifi network for each room. However, you'd then need to connect to the different Wifi networks to control the devices in those rooms.

I’d encourage you to also send this feedback directly to Google. You will not receive a response, unless Google need more details from you, however the team are still reading the feedback.
