Real fixes for automation trigger inconsistencies?

I've searched the forums, found many similar complaints, but no fixes. I have automation trigger issues with a Nest Hub and 2 pixel phones on the account.

I've had trouble for months now with automations working only randomly. Sometimes it doesn't detect my phone isn't home, sometimes it does, but the automation still doesn't trigger, and then for a few times in a row it works perfectly.

 

It used to work all the time. Then I tried disabling the unused personal routines and that's when the trouble seemed to start. I've put it all back, tried deleting the apps, the home, clearing storage and caches, sending feedback with logs... And no fixes yet. 

 

Can anyone help? I can't be the only one after reading the forums. Does anyone know reliable fixes that will make this problem solved?

I’m pretty tech savvy so everything is up to date. The hub is on the beta channel. But switching didn’t make a difference. The router is less than 5m, but through some walls. It does have good signal.

we use presence sensing on 2 pixel phones. Everything has been reset, reinstalled, etc. the trouble seems to have started when I switched off the default personal routines (I never used them). 

ive been on holiday for a week, and the activity shows me leaving at 6;58, but the home didn’t switch to away until 7:50. It also says a device left at 14:29, but by then I was already on my flight in airplane mode.
