This is ridiculous... I haven't used in like a year or something and it was not setup for my current wifi network. I thought I could just hard reset it then setup with google home... It just sits at the remote pairing screen and google home or google tv can't identify it. I thought ok I'll just look for my usb hub and connect it via ethernet, then surely google home will see it.... nope, still nothing. I thought ok i'll pair it to my phone or an xbox controller via bluetooth.... both failed. I thought ok i'll connect a mouse and keyboard via the hub... well the mouse is definitely working as the cursor is moving around on the screen. The ethernet is working as the router says it's connected and both lights flashing. How is it I can't set this thing up without an official remote when I have an ethernet connected and a mouse and keyboard connected... this is absurd.

I finally got it to work with a bluetooth mouse. I don't know why it suddenly worked I had tried pairing my phone and an xbox controller and both failed repeatedly but the mouse worked, then once I selected it a language it allowed Google Home to connect. Would be alot more user friendly if it could just connect to Google Home right away....

Hi punc,
Thanks for reaching out to our community.
I’m sorry to hear that it has not been possible for you to set up your Chromecast with Google TV because it sits at the remote pairing screen and Google Home or Google TV can’t identify it. Thank you for sharing with us the troubleshooting steps you have taken to set up your Chromecast device. No worries; it would be my pleasure to assist you in finding the solution.
Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some important questions:
Are you using an Android or an iPhone mobile to set up your Chromecast with Google TV?
Is your Google Home app up-to-date?
Is it the Google Chromecast into the list of devices of your Google Home App?
Is your Chromecast and your mobile device connected to the same WiFi network?
How far is the Chromecast from the WiFi router?
Can you tell me what the status of the LED light on your voice remote control is?
Are you using the original batteries included in the box, or did you change them?
Have you tried to factory reset your voice remote?
Thanks for your kind attention; I will be looking forward to your answer.
Best regards,
Virna

I did a hardware reset because it was setup for an old wifi network. I thought I would be able to set it up with Google home app because it works like that with my other ones but this one won't do anything without the remote. So no it's not connected to wifi or on the list of devices in my Google home. I don't have the remote control.
