Routine in Automations Stopped Working

I have been through all the help suggestions, my activity log says it is working.  My "Play the News" routine in the automations has always been glitchy at best.  Usually an update, restart or messing with the settings/toggles in some way and reaching it somehow will do the trick. Not this time.   The link in "Contact Us" for the help section was also broken when I got to the third section so here is where I find myself.  Help me Obi Wans lol. I took screen shots of the activity log and the broken link in the help section.  Thanks

Are you using the "Play and control media" action or a custom phrase?

The custom phrase "what's the news" works for me. It plays my default news service.

It used to work either/both ways. Now it won't work either way. In the "activities" tab, it says it started but that is incorrect.  I don't think the start command or method is the issue but I have tried changing it to different ones.  The only way I can get it to "go" is when it is tied to an alarm in my clock app.  Even then, it will not restart if I pause it or it will disappear off of my apps windows if I pause it for any reason.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for posting. @TrueBlueCubbieG I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing with your routine on automation that stopped working. I appreciate the steps that you have already taken to solve the situation. I understand how frustrating it can be when things do not work as expected. But don't worry; help is here.

Here are some steps that you can try:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap the account icon.
  3. Verify that the Google Account on screen is the one linked to the speaker or display.
  4. Verify if the home automation account shows up under "Works with Google".
    • From within the Google Home app:
      1. Tap Settings > Works with Google.
      2. Check if the home automation account is listed under "Linked Services".
        • If yes, tap “Reconnect account,” then follow the on-screen instructions.
        • If no, force close the Google Home app and try again.
  5. Check if the device is displayed and can be controlled within the home automation partner app.
  6. Sync all devices. Use the command "Okay Google, sync my devices."
  7. Go back to the Google Home app.
  8. Unlink the home automation account, then relink it.

You can check the next steps to unlink the home automation account:

  1. Open the Home app .
  2. Tap Settings > Google Assistant > Home Control.
  3. Under Linked services, tap the home automation partner > Unlink account > Unlink.

After that you can try to link the account again:

  1. Open the Home app .
  2. Tap Settings > Google Assistant > Home Control.
  3. Tap the Search box, type the name of the Home Automation partner then link the account.

@SmartHomeH-TAGS Thanks for your help in solving the situation.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenny
