Smart devices for Google home that do not require a hub AND do not require 3rd party apps

I think I may be looking for something that doesn´t exist yet. I´m trying to hold out for "Matter" but that´s still a ways off. I have multiple devices that all require separate 3rd party apps (EWeLink  or TP-Link Tapo) or a 3rd party hub (Ikea lighting). I´d like to quit tying up my phone memory with multiple smart home apps and outlets with multiple hubs. What I am trying to find is smart plugs, smart switches, smart cameras, etc. that I can connect, Start Google Home, find and use them. If such devices exist, I´m ready to toss out all of the mix and match devices I have and start from scratch.

Do such devices exist for Europe (220V) and if so, where might I find information on them?

Thanks.

For further clarification: I have the here for Seamless setup of smart devices, but reading through it, all of these options require either a hub, smart speaker or 3rd party app.

Hi jbb0906,

Warmest welcome from the Community team.

I think I know what’s on your mind but just to confirm, do you already have Google Nest speakers and 3rd party devices that are working and in-sync with each other? What devices do you have and how are they connected?

Best,

Dan

Hi Dan. Thanks for your response. I do not have any Google Nest Speakers or hubs, nor do I have any other hubs. At this point, I don´t have any plans to use voice commands in the near future. I control everything from a smartphone.

What I have is devices such as smart plugs (T-Link Tapo), switches- (Sonoff), lights (Ikea), etc. All of which require that I install their Smarthome software on my phone and link each of those individually to Google Home.

What I would like to do, even if it means tossing all of the devices I currently have, is to delete all of these 3rd party apps and accounts, and have devices that will connect natively to Google home, just like the TP-Link Tapo devices connect directly to their app. There are no hubs involved.  I´m just wondering if this is currently possible, or on the horizon. If it´s possible now, please tell me the brand(s) of devices that work this way.

Thanks again.

John

Hey there,

To get you where you want to be and to help you decide, open the links below for you to know our Google Nest speakers and display specifications along with the information needed in knowing what 3rd party devices are compatible and that works with Google.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Dan

Hi Dan. Thanks again for your response. Please don´t take offense to my response. Perhaps I´m not making my question clear enough. With TP-Link, there is no hub or speaker required. With Sonoff, again no hub or speaker. you simply install the device and connect it through the wifi to the app on the phone and it works. My point is that I do not want a speaker or any hub of any size, shape or form. I want to be able to buy devices that I can connect through the wifi, to be directly controlled through the Google home app on my phone. My question is does such an animal exist and if so, what brand, etc. can do that?

Thanks again.

Hello again,

No offense taken! On the link above, the devices found there are the ones you’re able to link directly to the Google Home app even if you don’t buy any of the Google Nest speakers. As long as the device is on that page, you can use it with the Google Home app and Google Assistant. Check it out.

Thanks,

Dan

Thanks again Dan.

I took another look at the page. It seems that the specific things I´m looking for: lights, outlets, light switches, etc., aren´t yet available. Guess I´ll have to wait a bit.

Thanks for your patience and help.
