Smart lights

Redbug72

Hi everybody,

This is my first post so please excuse me if this issue has already been covered.

My smart lights are very hit and miss when I ask google to dim or brighten them also switching them on and off is problematic. If google hasn’t executed the command after four or five attempts I manually switch them off fed up of keep asking. Also google ignores my wife altogether (only regarding the lights) and she calls me to come and work them. We’ve had them at least four months and tried different things with no joy.

I was hoping to add more lights, a google door bell, security cameras etc but I’m not now overly confident in the system

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated

Thanks Andy

Hi Redbug72,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

Thanks for bringing this up and I’m sorry you have that experience. Let’s check what’s going on. A few things: what is the make of the smart lights that you are using? Is it working on its native app? Are you able to control it using Google Home app too? Which Nest speaker do you own? Is your wife added to the home app as a user? If so, did she set up a voice match

For the lights issue you can do a sequential reboot. First, unplug your Nest speakers/ displays for 30 seconds, then do the same thing to your Wi-Fi router to refresh both devices and your Wi-Fi signal. Once everything is booted up, try the feature again.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Juni
