Smartlife wont complete link with Google home

Linking SmartLife account into Google Home won't complete.

I have tried relinking. Removing the current connection.

It tried to bind /link but doesn't quite complete to the stage where it asks which room I want my devices to be stored within Google home.

Go into the Smart Life app to see if you can link Google Home there. Select "Me" (bottom left).

Hi. I tried to link it from there too it nearly completes it too but just goes into a blank loading screen again.

When I come out of Google home and go back in it shows the device is linked in the works with things list. But not actually assigning the device into the rooms /category section of Google home

Hi Leedrummond,

Thanks for posting. I understand that you are trying to link your SmartLife account to the Google Home app, but it won't finish the process to assign the room to your devices. I appreciate the information provided and the steps that you tried. I get how important this must be for you. Don't worry; help is here.

Can you please confirm whether these are the steps you followed to assign your devices to the rooms?

Add the device to an existing room in your current home.

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Home > All devices, then touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings > Room or Placement.
  4. Choose a room and tap Next.

Add the device to a new room in your current home.

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Home > All devices, then touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings Room or Placement.
  4. Select one of the existing rooms or add a custom room. Then tap Next.
    • If you make a custom room, enter a new room name and tap Next.
    • You can also create a customized name for your device when you switch rooms.

 @SmartHomeH-TAGS Thanks for jumping in.

Please keep me posted,

Best regards,

Jenny

Hi Jenny. No it doesn't get to that stage where the device is added so I'm unable to assign it to any room.

I've given up trying after using 2 switches and 2 years of trying now and my work around is to connect it via smartthings  then from smart things onto Google home. Which worked first time. So for now this is my working solution.

Hi Leedrummond,

Thanks for your reply. I just need to ask for some information to continue working with you on this.

  • Do you have more than one home structure?
  • Can you please provide a picture of what your devices from SmartThings look like on the Google Home app?

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,
Jenny
