Stop Google home verbal confirmation?

Google constantly confirming lights off is maddening. I can see the the light is off and the ding was more than sufficient. 

Is there any way to shut it up?

On Google's Mini speakers you can mute the assistant's confirmation when you add a volume change as part of a routine.

It's absurd that these lengths must be taken.  In the past 6 months it's as if Google intended to wind back the quality of the Home system about 5 years.  I've been loyal to Google since the before Galaxy Nexus.  I'm tired of eating projects they get bored with.
