Unknown local device

Ily

Hi everyone, I notice an unknown local device on Google home app this morning. I can literally see what this person is playing and even pause or control the volume.

I tried to remove the device but there is no option, when I check on access summary there is no device linked.

Now what really scared me is on my Google activities it look like her account has merge with mine as not only I can see mine but hers too.

Can that person can have access to my activities and in my phone?

PS:  I deleted Google home and unfortunately it's a shared WiFi connection where I live.

Thank you and sorry for the long text.

You're seeing that device as you're both connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Can that person can have access to my activities and in my phone?

No, absolutely not. But they will see your device in their "local devices". This is working as intended and by design as Google doesn't support shared Wi-Fi networks.

To prevent others on your Wi-Fi network from controlling your media casting, you can turn off cast media control notifications.

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile > tap the settings cog at the top right > Recognition & sharing.
  3. Turn Let others control your cast media off.
