Wake Display on Approach

Elemenop42

Maybe there’s an easy way to fix this, because I can’t find any topics on it, and I would expect other people would be annoyed by it as well…

I have my Nest Thermostat set to wake the display on approach, because I want it to show me the temperatures without having to touch the thermostat. The problem is, it doesn’t always show the temperature. Sometimes I’ll get something almost like an advertisement saying “save more at home”. How do I get rid of this for good? Because it’s pointless to have it set to wake the display on approach if I still need to touch it or get out my phone to get to the next screen and see the temperature.

My understanding is you should be able to dismiss this message and it shouldn't show again. If not, it's possible the display has frozen. I'd suggest trying to manually restart it which should allow you to dismiss the screens:

  1. Pull your thermostat off its base.
  2. Remove both AAA batteries.
  3. Replace the batteries and press your thermostat onto the base until it clicks into place.
  4. Your thermostat will take a few moments to turn on and restart.
