My wife and I have Google Home with a lot of various devices. However, she keeps getting notifications sent to her phone that read “new device added” … “my # added it to your home”.
She’s getting these alerts when we’re definitely not adding devices. When she taps the alert it just takes us to Google Home and we don’t know what is the new device that was added.
She thinks someone has hacked our account, since this seems like unauthorized activity.
How do we get to the root cause? We don’t want to just ignore the issue by disabling notifications.

I am also having the same issue. Hopefully someone can help.

Hey folks,
Thanks for reaching out — let's check this out.
A few questions: are you using public or private network? Also, how many members do you have in your household?
Try to visit this link to check the history in your Google Home app.
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Alex

I am using a private network, using the Nest Wifi Router. We have 2 members in the the household, but technically 3 different emails are signed in, since we have a joint email that we have aslo added as a member. Which helps us with calendar events and such.

Hey LMTC,
Thanks for the update. Could you try uninstalling your Google Home app and try resetting your Google speakers.
Regards,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the info! The Google home deployment only has myself and my wife as registered users. It is also on a private network (all devices are behind a Google Mesh wifi).
When I check the "history/feed" as your link describes, I do not see any odd activity.
My phone never gets alerts of the odd activity. Only my wife sporadically gets these "so and so added a new device" notifications.

Hey holeydonut,
When your wife receives this notification, did you observe one of your devices disconnected from your Wi-Fi? Also, is your wife a member of other home structure?
Best,
Alex

Hi Alex,
No, the notifications show up at odd times, and I don't notice anything amiss with Wifi. I don't get the alert, but she does. I don't know what "other home structure" means, but we're both only members of this one Google Home.

Hey holeydonut,
Appreciate the update and I'm sorry for the late response. Could you try unlinking your wife's account from the Google Home app and link it back?
Thanks,
Alex
