What device is this?

I have a device listed in Google Home that i don't recognize. It's something I probably did, but i'm trying to figure out a way to identify the device with the software so I can either edit or remove it from my Google home app.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I would love to get this sorted out, and any  help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Go into the device's settings if you can and check if the brand "Connected to" is familiar to you.

If you have that app installed on your phone, see if the "Name from" corresponds with that app.

Before you try turning it on or off could it be the master switch on a smart power board? Turning that off could turn a number of other things off.

Hi @Lazybear,

Thank you for posting in the community! I understand you've found an unfamiliar device listed in your Google Home app that you want to edit or remove. No worries, I'd be happy to help you figure this out!

To better assist you, please provide the following information:

  • Have you already checked the suggestions provided by @SmartHomeH-TAGS? If so, did they resolve the issue?
  • What is the name of the unrecognized device as it appears in the Google Home app (e.g., 'Speaker,' 'Light,' 'Unknown Device,' or a string of numbers/letters)?
  • If you tap on the device, are there any further details or settings pages that reveal the manufacturer, model number, or a setup date?
  • Do you mind sharing a picture of the device that you see in the Google Home app?

In the meantime, I’d suggest the following steps to check:

  • If you share your home with other family members, please confirm with them if they have recently added the device.
  • Ensure your Google Home app is updated to the latest version.

I appreciate your input, @SmartHomeH-TAGS.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
