Can you turn off the cloud connection of the thread router in a nest hub?
I got it for the voice and having a screen is sort of fun, and it was the same price as a nest Audio. And the best Audio I had decided to stop connecting to wifi after three years... So I was not that keen on getting the same one.
Anyways, the hub popped up in home assistant as a thread router, so that is kinda neat! However I don't want google or any cloud in my smart home, the voice control have access only through the home assistant API and that is controlled by me. I don't need or want ANY company to ruin my experience, so I would like to know if we actually have any control over the "cloudiness" of the thread part or if I'll still be forced to buy a separate device?

Hi skrutt,
Thank you for reaching out to our community.
I greatly appreciate your inquiry about whether it is possible to disable the cloud connection of the thread router in a Nest Hub. It is my pleasure to assist you with this concern.
At this moment, based on the settings features available for the Nest Hub, I found that this setting isn’t available for the users. It isn’t recommended to turn off the cloud connection of the thread router, because the Nest Hub's main function is to command and keep connected your devices at your home network.
Please consider sharing your thoughts directly with our development team through this feedback form. Your input will help us prioritize features and ensure that we're meeting the needs of our diverse user base.
Feel free to keep us posted if you have more questions.
Best regards,

Exactly as you say, the thread routers purpose is to keep my devices connected to my home network. Not to the cloud, so that is why I want to make sure that the router can fulfill it's purpose at all times. One important aspect is security, it's important that devices are not connected to any other networks than they need to be in order to fulfill their role.
Another important aspect is authorisation and access control, that any sensitive or important settings are protected from change by malicious or unintended actors, that only authorised administrators can change the system.
