morning news routine just stops

Ppro

Ive been having problems with my Google Assistant just stopping in the middle of its morning routine specifically while playing the News. I listen to Rueters ESPN and This Day In History. If it stops in the middle of, say, Reuters and Espn is next it will just stop be silent for about 10-15 seconds and then ESPN will start. Then that may go for a bit then that stops and goes silent and then the next program. nothing finishes.

I have these News programs playing through Sonos speakers and I activate them in my Morning Routine when I say Good morning Google.  I use an iPhone to set up my assistant and I use voice commands to activate routines. I have google nest Wifi router.

I have to say I went for the google home thing because of Nest thermostats and nest aware I think they are great products but Im disappointed at this assistant and the support for it. doesn't seem like this forum has any answers. So if some one else is experiencing this or if someone form google can help. Please Do

I am having the same issue with the morning routine. NPR is set to play first in the routine. It stops ⅓ of the way through then suddenly skips to the next newscast I have set and does the same thing, but then does not resume at all. Any resolution to this you’re aware of since posting?

Nothing and Google support is straight up MIA on this. They have zero support. The threads w this issue have been closed and no resolution. If I didn’t have other best products that aren’t compatible w Apple then I would drop Google for their shear lack of support. They've been unhelpful on other issues too. Terrible.

My routine won't start at all now because it says it has no device to play on, but it's always just played on my mobile? No idea why it now needs an external device in order to start the routine.

Is there a Google moderator monitoring these posts so they could do something about it. I’m so fed up with the terrible support from Google.

Hi folks,

Ppro, thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the delay. Aside from Sonos speakers, do you have a Google-made speaker? If so, try to isolate it by using the other speaker and observe if it makes a difference. If this is not possible, try to reboot or perform a factory reset on your Sonos speaker and try the routine once more.

ECU71, thanks for posting. What Nest speaker are we working with? When did it begin? Also, what troubleshooting steps have you taken so far?

Brightie, thanks for reaching out. What is the make and model of the mobile phone that you are using? Were there any recent changes made? Is your phone’s Google Assistant app updated?

Juni

these basics are not the solution. This is an issue that has gone on for years with different devices in different homes. It’s a fatal glitch that some have that seems to follow them or is based on something else on your need you just can’t find. No one really seems to help with it and it’s a drag. Someone should really try to get it right.

I also have this problem, but using no speaker, just the assistant option in the alarms app of my Google pixel. Had been working flawlessly for years, now it just stops at a random point. It's very annoying.

Same here, it started to happen right after an android 14 update. I should have stayed with 13 were everything ran well.

It’s not your update. I have an iPhone and it’s not even phone oriented. It’s straight up in googles end. I tried different speakers different start ups you name it. Years of it. I don’t use it anymore. Wish Sonos worked more seamlessly with HomePod bc I’d switch it up at least Apple has humans answering their support channels.. But stuck w Google and there very subpar support.

I got an email a couple weeks ago saying they were working on this and are aware. I don’t really believe it bc this has gone on for years. I had this issue first in another apt with another speaker so it’s not the apparatus but some witching coming from Google. I’m not really sure they know or care about this one but it’s a drag and once I switch out my nest thermostat for one that works with Apple I’m going to use Apple home instead. Plus Google customer support is basically non existent where as I can call Apple at anytime and talk to someone real. Good luck doing that with Google. And good luck getting through an entire news routine or even one news story with out being cut off. So lame.

If there is a Google support team member here at all please contact me. I’d like to get to the bottom of this and find out about the use of Sonos vs google speaker. I really can’t take this situation anymore and I want to exhaust all options since I made a significant investment in the equipment and I’d rather not have to switch over to an entirely new system.

You can look into one of these two case numbers 6-5146000035840
5-0183000035019. I’ve called a bunch of times there may be other cases on this but no one really follows up or gets anything done. Im convinced Google really doesn't care or can’t fix this issue. If someone can figure this out id be amazed. I do have to tell you its incredibly annoying because google home and assistant is supposed to streamline your life. when i am up and getting ready in the morning i dont want to have to go to my phone and fuss with it play news through Bluetooth speakers. I didnt pay for all this technology and set up this whole google home so that it doesnt even work to play the news. There is no reason this should be happening and happening for so long.

Is there any answers to this issue? This has gone on forever. No one is doing a thing. There is a real problem and no one is addressing it. Every morning this cuts out in the middle of a news story. Can’t Google take their billions of dollars and tech knowledge to fix this glitch.

Its truly incredible. Google is a multimillion company. Pixel phones are not cheap. Zero support.
