Hi all,
I used to have a ccwgtv and from there I could get the state of the device (playing / paused) and use that to dim lights at night time. Unfortunately my ccwgtv broke and I change to using a shield, however I cant seem to get the status of the device in google home. All I can tell if it is on or off. Any ideas on how to see if it is playing or not?
The really wierd thing is that if I open google home, I can see the now playing popup and I can control the media and see what is playing (netflix, disney + etc).
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi,
I believe i'm having a similar issue when trying to setup a basic automation. When shield turns on, turn on socket X. It fails to works with the shield but does work with a ccwgtv. I also have the same issue when trying the same thing from AndroidTV built-in to my Philips TV. My current theory is that there is something in the license that's limiting third parties but struggling to get more information.

yeah maybe, I also see in google home that is set as a TV device type and not a media player so maybe something funny happening there.

Hi folks,
Thanks for reaching out. That certainly hasn’t been easy for all of you. Let’s check out what’s going on. A few questions: What phone are you all using (Android or iOS)? Is the Google Home app updated? Also, what steps have you taken so far? Try to reinstall the Google Home app and observe if it makes a difference. Relinking your TV might give us a different result too.

Hi, Latest build on Pixel 6 (TQ3A.230805.001).
Google Home latest in Preview mode.
The nVidia Shield Android TV has been removed and re-added to the home. The available Household automation option for this device ('Turns on or off') does not work.

Hi folks,
Thanks for trying that. Have any of you tried contacting their support team to raise awareness? Could you also provide us with the Google Home app version installed on your phones?
I look forward to your responses.
Thanks,
Juni

Hi there,
Got it. If possible, try setting up your devices using another network and observe if it makes a difference. You can also try to contact their support team and check out some troubleshooting that they can provide.
Keep me posted.
