observation about smart components

I have a bunch of Sonoff smart plugs, and I use them with eWeLink, which can mate to Google Home. Pretty nice. I saw what appeared to be Sonoff smart plug knockoffs, for a bit cheaper, so I figured I'd try one. Nope, eWeLink and Google Home won't talk to them. You MUST download and log in to their own app, pair with the device, and THEN share with Google Home. I don't want to have a whole slew of smart device apps, so I'll stick with Sonoff. Just a warning that identical looking smart devices don't work with the same apps. They're careful to never tell you that.

They might be Tuya based, but there are hundreds of brands for smartplugs out there and they all look the same. And yes, for most you need a different phone app. If you're like me and use Zigbee, they might also not pair with your zigbee gateway (you will need a gateway of that same brand OR flash your gateway with Tasmota or something). If both brands are in the Zigbee Alliance, I think they should be able to pair between those two brands.
