Hi Owen1,
Thank you for posting here in the community. I am sorry for the issue that you are experiencing with your Google Home device. But no need to worry, help is here.
Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some questions:
- Are you getting any error messages?
- When did the issue start?
- Does the issue persist continuously or intermittently?
- Does the speaker respond but give a wrong answer or does it not respond completely?
- Is the speaker powered on?
- Does the speaker never respond or does it only respond sometimes?
- How long did the device work as intended before the customer experienced this symptom?
- Does the same issue occur when others speak to the speaker or display?
In the meantime, please check the following basic troubleshooting steps:
- Check Wi-Fi Connection:
- Ensure your Nest speaker is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
- Update Nest speakers:
- Update Firmware: Check for any available firmware updates for your Nest devices.
- Check Google Home App:
- Ensure the Google Home app is up-to-date and running smoothly.
- Verify if the Speaker’s microphones are not blocked.
- Ensure that the two microphone holes on the top of the device aren't covered.
- Check that the speaker is powered correctly.
- Make sure the device is powered by the provided power cord and is plugged directly into a power outlet.
- Verify if the speaker is not muted.
- When muted, the speaker or display says "The mic is muted" and the device displays four solid orange LEDs. When un-muted, the speaker or display says "The mic’s back on".
- Unplug the power cord from the speaker and reconnect (reboot).
You can also check the following article when the Google Assistant doesn't respond.
Let me know how it goes.
