My camera turns off every time someone pushes the doorbell button works all the time except when the doorbell is pushed and then it turns off and comes back on after the person has already left I have a nest doorbell cam it's wired in and it only started doing this within the last couple weeks. Is this common or is this just malfunction

I'm having the same issue. Super annoying!

It just happened recently but yeah my mailman left a package and a message of where he put it and I never heard the message and it got rained on. I hope someone gets back to us soon!

Hey there,

Thanks for bringing up the concern you're having. I'd love to look into this for you. The first troubleshooting step that I'd recommend would be to restart your device. This process should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This might be helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally.

Best regards,
Brad

Brad, I did both the soft reset, as well as the factory reset. Neither worked. Even after the factory reset, my doorbell turns the camera off for exactly 30 seconds after the button is pressed. Makes this thing almost useless...

I get how this could be very frustrating, but we still want to make sure you're taken care of. Please fill out this form, and support will reach out to you with next steps. Let me know once you have filled out the form if you can, please.

lol ill tell you why.

Google apparently doesn't record any video that is viewed live so if the bell rings and if any of your devices automatically view the footage e.g nest hub then it counts as a live viewing and stop recording. it starts recording again when that "live view" stops.

better off dumping any security devices made by google. They obviously have no clue what privacy, security are. They're just good at Collecting your data!

Brad, I spoke with support already. Their response was "buy a new doorbell." The internal battery wears out and you guys refuse to warranty it. Luckily Amazon has it for like $10 dollars, so I will be cracking the doorbell open myself to fix it. Last Google doorbell I'll ever own. 1-2 year warranty is NOT long enough on a +$200 product.

If that is what support had to share, those would be your options at this time. I am afraid I wouldn't be able to offer a different option as we simply don't have the option too. Feel free to share your experience in the app.

Brad

Same thing happened to me.. Worked perfect up until a few weeks ago.  Works fine unless someone pushes the button. It turns off for about a minute and comes back on.

Same response to me.. "Since your safety and surveillance is our Priority, I request you to purchase the Nest Doorbell from the Google Store so that the issue will be resolved for you"

Seems more to me that they send an update to disable features so you have to buy another one.
