Google Home / Nest Unsuitable for Critical Systems

BigBen700

I've found the Google Home and Nest system unsuitable for large houses or critical systems like security..

The Google Home system only allows 5 members of a household. So the landlord plus 4, hence it's unsuitable for any large house like my 9 bed, 14 person HMO the system was purchased for.

I've also found that without warning Nest Aware can reset random devices and when it does it looses the 60 days of history. This obviously makes the whole system unsuitable for anything that's critical.

Furthermore I've also found Google support stops responding to cases when there's an actual issue and not just used education..

I've been so disappointed, and this disappointment has lasted for several years already

Hello BigBen700,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. When it comes to sharing access to your Nest devices in Google Home, you can have up to 6 people in your household. The Nest Aware subscription doesn't have the ability to reset your Nest camera or doorbell unless the device loses power or you press the reset button. If you run into any issues, we'll make sure to pass them along to our engineering team. They're constantly working on updating the app and Nest devices to fix bugs and add new features. By the way, if there are any features you'd like to see added to the app, you can share your feedback with Google.

Let me know if you have additional questions.

Cheers,
Edmond
