What does "it doesn't work" mean?

History for a Nest Aware subscription begins at the time it is purchased and is NOT retroactive.

In the Google Home app, only events that are configured are recorded (unless you have a Nest Aware Plus subscription). This Google Nest Help topic describes configuring for events:
