Hi,
I have been using a number of Nest smart home devices, always controlled by the Nest app. Recently the old Nest aware app was cancelled.
Today I signed up for the new Nest aware plan ($150/yr) and then realized I signed up under my google account. I intentionally have not migrated my Nest account over yet.
Then I realized that none of my Nest devices, incl my cameras (I have one standalone and two doorbells), are under my google account yet.
So, my question is: if I finally migrate to the google account, will the Nest Aware subscription I just signed up for automatically include the nest cameras from the "old" Nest account? If not, I may have just wasted that money...?
Thank you for the help!

If you have set up a Nest Aware Plus subscription on your Google Account, I suspect that means Google Nest may have connected that account to a new Nest Account, and you will NOT be able to migrate to that Google Account. (We migrated in 2020.). If you try to migrate and get a "Google Account is already linked with another Nest account" error message, then look at the workaround under the "Error message: Google Account is already linked with another Nest account" subtopic on this Help page:

omg...!
thank you for responding! That is incredibly painful. But I guess once I do this (I would probably choose to disconnect everything from the old Nest account, and then light them all up again under the Google login) I assume at least the Nest Aware app will cover the cameras?
Btw, I am using that same google email as the email to the current Nest account. I guess that doesn't matter?

Yes, the Nest Aware subscription covers all cameras and doorbells in the same Google Nest "home/structure" as long as you're also accessing both apps with the same Google Account. We have a Nest Aware Plus subscription, and it gives us history for our 1st gen cameras in the Google Nest app and history for our 2nd gen cameras in the Google Home app. It's just a nuisance to have to use 2 apps.
I'm not sure how you're using a Google (gmail) email with the Google Nest app without having migrated. Per that help topic above, "If you started using the Nest app after August 19, 2019, you're already using a Google Account and don't need to migrate." I'm also confused, because you said you mistakenly set up your Nest Aware Plus subscription on your Google Account; how is it a mistake if you're already using that Google Account to sign onto the Google Nest app.? Maybe you don't need to migrate. When you log onto the Google Nest app, do you use the "Sign in with Nest" or "Sign in with Google" option? If it is the latter, you've already migrated and your subscription should already be working.
If you were using a gmail account before that date to log onto the Google Nest app, it seems that is a scenario that Google Nest did not provide for. I guess you won't know until you try to migrate.

I think the confusion stems from the fact that I use my gmail as my user name, but I log into Nest as a Nest user (not Google).
So i think the scenario you outlined above is exactly right. Google already attached a "new" Nest account to my gmail account.
I have now tried to migrate and I get exactly the error message you predicted.
Seems incredibly stupid that google doesnt allow to unlink a Nest and a Google account.
So now I will have to basically set up all my devices from scratch under the Google account...
do you know if all devices will work? I have: 2 doorbells, an older Nest cam, two NestYale locks, 3 thermostats; 2 protects; and a bunch of security stuff which I know wont work anymore starting Apr 4...

I've never had to do a mass reinstall like that. Keep in mind that you'll be reinstalling in the Google Nest app (logged in with a Google [gmail] account), so it should work. But you could encounter some of the reinstall oddities customers often log in this forum.

thank you. That is a good point. One would hope that reinstalling everythign under the Nest app should ensure that all the Nest devices still work...

Hi, just wanted to let you know that I was able to move all devices over to the new Nest(google) account. It was actaully much less painful than I expected. Thanks for all your help!

I'm glad everything went well, especially given all the issues reported in this forum with reinstalling devices.
