Google Nest smoke alarm annoying message

DianeSL
Community Member

We have had 2 Google Nest smoke alarms for at least a couple of years with no problems. A couple of months ago, the one downstairs started speaking “device number one is not communicating.”  It does  this every other day at 5:50 AM.  Repeats the message several times to make sure I’m good and awake. I just purchased new ones and the same thing is happening!  I have been in touch with support, but no help yet. Any ideas would be appreciated. ( they have been set up successfully and on our Wi-Fi)

Hello DianeSL,

We appreciate you for choosing the Nest Protect for your security. Let's see what are options here. To confirm, how far is your Nest Protect from your Wi-Fi router? Were there any recent changes to your Wi-Fi network? What are the troubleshooting steps you've done so far?

Give these steps a try:
If you have at least one 2nd gen Nest Protect in your home, you
can run a Safety Checkup with the Nest app.

1. Sign into your account in the app.

2. Select Nest Protect on the home screen.

3. Tap Checkup at the bottom of the screen.

Hit this link for more steps.

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,
Emerson

Hey DianeSL,

Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let us know.

Thanks,
Emerson
