1st Gen Nest Thermostat stopped working

I have a Diamond-1.12 Model Nest that just stopped working for no reason

It was showing alternating green / red light blinking. After charging it now is showing blinking green only.

I have reset it several time and tried charging the battery with USB cable.

It keeps asking me to attach and remove from base on an endless loop.

App say the software is current.

Has worked fine for over 10+ years until now.

What can I try to fix this?

Hi myrabedra,

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that your thermostat has stopped working though you've charged it already. Let's see what's going on. A few questions:

  1. Are you located in North America or Europe?
  2. When did the issue first occur?
  3. If the thermostat was recently installed, what is the make and model of your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment?
  4. Are the power breakers on, and do you receive power to your home?
  5. Is the thermostat's display seated properly?
  6. Are all the wires of your thermostat seated firmly in its terminals (with no loose or exposed wires)?
  7. Did you use a micro-USB cable to charge the thermostat display?
  8. Did you verify if the micro-USB cable is working?
  9. Did you plug the device into a working power outlet?
  10. For how long did you charge the thermostat display?
  11. For how long does the thermostat last after charging?

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe
