2nd Generation Inside Temperature Incorrect

Jkoz38

My 2nd Generation Learning Thromostat is displaying the wrong inside temperature and will not turn on the heat due to it thinking it's 10+ degrees warmer inside. Currently it thinks it is 80 degrees, when it is 67. I have restarted the Nest, performed a factory reset, even took the Nest off the wall for 20 minutes and replaced(the delta was initially smaller, but since returned to 10+ degrees). The wall behind the mount is not warm. There is a duct directly behind the Nest, but it is a return duct, so does not get warm.  Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

I'm running into the same thing. I'm curious if this is a bigger issue.

Google's suggestion was to buy a new one and 2nd Generation is no longer eligible for a replacement......

I am having the exact same issue. The thermostat was telling my furnace to turn on the AC, so the AC is running with the temp -2C outside!  Any help on fixing the issue?

Hey folks,

Thanks for posting.

A few question:

When was the thermostat installed?
Where did you install your thermostat? (in a room and on a wall or stand)
Do you have other active Nest thermostats? If yes: Do they show the same issue?
When did the issue start?
How big is the difference between the readout of the Nest thermostat and your thermometer or other thermostats?

Give these steps a try:

Go to Settings > Technical Info > Network.
Check for the Signal strength value.
Restart the thermostat
Turn on Sunblock
Check if the thermostat is near a heat source

Keep us posted.

Best
Mel
