3rd Gen Nest not showing correct temperature

A_Rose22

We just installed our 3rd Gen Nest and it’s showing that the internal temperature of our home is 75°F we know that this isn’t true because we have an indoor thermometer in our kitchen next to the nest. It’s only 70°F inside. We tried restarting and turning off Farsight, nothing has helped. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hello A_Rose22,

I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you, and I appreciate the steps you've taken. Let's sort this out.

To isolate:

  1. Is your thermostat installed near a heat source?
  2. Could you please share with us a photo of your thermometer next to your thermostat? Both screens show the readouts.
  3. Please check the "Signal strength" value. Go to the thermostat's settings > technical info > network.
  4. Enable sunblock under the Nest Sense settings.
  5. Cover the wall with a duct seal compound. There’s a high possibility that there’s a heat source behind the wall detected by the thermostat, and that’s why they have incorrect temperature readouts.

Please keep us posted on how it goes.

Regards,

Mark

Hi there,

I'm checking back in. Were you able to do the steps above? I'd be glad to hear from you — I'd like to make sure everything is working.

Thanks,

Mark
