Another one of my Heat Links just died. No power to it at all, even though there is power to all the others. Tried resetting by holding button for 30seconds, nothing. Turned off all power and back on, nothing. I think it’s dead. It’s happened to 2 others in the last 3months both electrician confirmed were dead. Couldn’t afford not to have heating in winter so bought new ones to replace ASAP. Gutted another one has now gone. They were installed in June 2020 in complete house remodel so only been used for one full winter and were off for half a year!
Please help me with returning them under warranty and reimbursing me for the new units I’ve bought to replace them and the cost of keep hiring the electrician to replace!
I also want to know why they keep dying. We have 3 more, concerned they are going to keep dying. This shouldn’t be happening with less than a years use! Please help.
Thank you
Sammy

Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about what happened with your Heat Link.
Could you help me with some answers to these questions? If you already replied to some, you can ignore those.
How long has your thermostat been installed for?
Did the issue happen during the installation?
Is there any error on the Nest thermostat display?
Have you had any power cuts recently?
Have you had any work done on your electrical or heating systems recently?
If yes, was the power properly restored at the fuse board after work was done?
How many zones ( thermostats ) are present in the setup?
Regards,
Cristian

Hi. thanks but the response took too long, as its freezing in winter. So found a number to speak to customer services asap to sort it.
Disappointingly they wouldn't reimburse the cost of the replacement heat links i bought (i bought replacement asap as it was freezing and needed heat urgently) Nest will only send out their own replacement parts. I cant return the ones i bought back as already installed and cant send the nest replacements back to shop as they have unique serial codes and only send the heat link part! So for anyone else in the same situation, make sure to call nest customer services to send out a replacement part asap dont buy your own! or you lose hundreds!

I reckon you might be getting voltage surges, which is blowing the heat link board. Ensure you have an anti surge protection on your consumer box. More likely if you are near any facility which has heavy machinery.

thanks but its all brand new electrics after house remodel. Nest told me its a known issue that the heat links keep dying. Hopefully since google bought Nest they have upgraded the parts inside to stop it from happening! We shall see in time with the new google heat links i now have.....

Sammy - Hopefully you are right about the redesign! I sent off my faulty heat link to a repairer and he has fixed it for £30, so I'll keep that as a spare.
