Hi Boom80sbs149,

Thanks for replying. To ensure proper functionality, I recommend connecting your wires in the following manner:

  • W/E wire: Connect to the W1 terminal on your Nest Learning Thermostat.
  • Red wire: Connect to the RH terminal.
  • Yellow wire: Connect to the Y terminal. This is usually for cooling.
  • Green wire: Connect to the G terminal. This is for the fan.
  • Orange wire: Connect to the OB terminal. This is often used for a second stage of heating.
  • Blue wire: Connect to the C terminal. This provides constant power to the thermostat.

If you encounter any difficulties or have questions about specific wire colors or terminals, please don't hesitate to ask.

Regards,

Manuel

If I connect w/e to w1, how do I activate emergency heat? Or ensure it’s not constantly running?

Hi Boom80bs149,

Thanks for replying. When you have emergency heat, you can connect the W/E wire to the W1 terminal on your Nest Learning Thermostat. If this doesn't work, you can try connecting it to the W2 terminal. To confirm this, please could you send me a picture of your wires.

I'll be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Manuel

Hi Boom80bs149,

Thanks for sending the picture. I've checked it out and recommend connecting your wires to the Nest Learning Thermostat as follows:

  • W/E wire: Connect to the W2 terminal.
  • Red wire: Connect to the RH terminal.
  • Yellow wire: Connect to the Y terminal (cooling).
  • Green wire: Connect to the G terminal (fan).
  • Orange wire: Connect to the OB terminal (second stage heating).
  • Blue wire: Connect to the C terminal (constant power).

When you need to turn on the emergency heat, follow these steps:

  1. Press the thermostat ring to open the Quick View menu.
  2. Go to Settings, then Equipment.
  3. Select Continue when the wire diagram appears.
  4. Select Continue again to confirm your system summary.
  5. Select Emer. Heat.
  6. Select Emer. Heat again or Turn On.

Your Nest thermostat will use Emergency Heat until you turn it off manually.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Manuel
