7 digit code for Nest Learning Thermostat

The phone app is asking for a 7 digit code but the Nest Learning Thermostat device is only displaying six digits.   
where do I get the 7 digit code?

I have the 1st or 2nd  generation Nest . I need the 7 digits key code. I have followed the steps to get it and it is numbers and letters.  I. Any connect the the nest thermostat  to the app

The solution is to download the Nest app, which will accept the 6 digit code. Then, both the Nest and GoogleHome apps will connect. Each app has slightly different functionality, which I haven't sorted out so kept them both. @Jake, can you share this with other Community Specialists - the solution was too hard to find!

There are 2 apps - Google Home and Nest. Try the other.
