AC isn’t turning on after install

Help! Installed new 3rds generation Nest Learning thermostat and the AC will turn on for a moment and then turn back off. It keeps trying to go on, but won’t stay on. AC unit is running as well. I tried changing the R wires (RH to RC) and that didn’t help. When I run a test it tells me T02 issue. Any ideas?

Hello @Jchadwick

Thanks for posting in the community and providing us that information. I apologize for the inconvenience your Nest Thermostat may be causing.

I understand that you are having issues with the AC system because it’s no longer working since the installation, but no worries, let's troubleshoot it together:

  • Check for power:
    • Ensure the breaker switch or fuse controlling power to your system is turned on.
    • Check if any switches for fans or other components need to be turned on.
  • Verify wiring:
    • Turn off power to your system and thermostat at the breaker or fuse box before adjusting any wiring.
    • Carefully remove the thermostat display.
    • Check that wires are inserted correctly, fully inserted, and have ⅜ inch (6 mm) of exposed wire.
    • Ensure wires are connected correctly to the system board.
    • Reattach the display, turn on power, and test your thermostat.
  • Check wiring diagram:
    • If you don't have the original wiring diagram, try to find a picture of the thermostat wires that you took during installation.
    • If necessary, access the system control board to take a picture of the wiring.
    • Use the picture to enter the correct wire connections into the Nest app.
  • Re-test system:
    • Turn on power: Turn on power to your system at the breaker or fuse box.
    • Test the thermostat: Go to Settings > Equipment > Continue > Test on your thermostat.

If you continue to experience issues, please let me know, and we can explore further troubleshooting steps.

Regards,

Catheryn
