Adding a mechanical thermostat to the nest system

Hi all

I'm new to this forum, I have a nest Gen 3 thermostat, which went faulty, and has since been replaced. The heat link failed. I am wondering is it possible to fit a mechanical thermostat to control a Grant condensing boiler in the event of the nest failing again. It took nearly two weeks to get a nest engineer to call to resolve the problem. Not a great service.

Rig the jig.

Hi @Rigthejig,

Thank you for your timely post and the comprehensive information you've provided. I've reviewed the input and understand that you have a Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation and you made a replacement, and you want to know if you can fit a mechanical thermostat to control a Grant. I'm here to help you troubleshoot and find a solution together.

To assist you further, please attempt the following questions:

  • Have you got a code for the error?
  • If you were to reconnect the heatlink to the thermostat after the replacement?
  • Are you able to manually use the heatlink?

In addition, the connection between the thermostat and the heatlink is wireless, a mechanical thermostat cannot be installed.

Please keep me posted.

Warm regards,

Jeremy.
