Air conditioner shows delay

Our nest was installed with the home in 2019 and has worked perfectly until a few days ago. Now, when set to Cool, it says "starts in 2 1/2 hours" but the only thing that changes is the temperature in our house and not in the way we want. In the app it says there is a delay but doesn't say why. I've read forums and see that this is not a unique situation so there has to be a fix for it. Does anyone know how to get rid of the delay?

Following, my Nest runs great until temperature change on the schedule and then it goes to delayed for 3mins although there is the temp is set to Cool during the peak heat part of the day. There is definitely an issue.
