Hi folks...
We have a condo located 6-hours away. Just had a new HVAC unit installed, along with a Nest Learning thermostat. I'm hoping that I can have a friend who lives there setup the new thermostat in Google Home.
If I understand this correctly, using the iPhone Google Home app, I can:
Does that sound correct, or am I misunderstanding something?
Thanks, Don

@DonMag ,
your understanding is pretty much correct however you need to do one more thing to be concerned with. The phone that sets up the Nest thermostat Is the controlling phone for the thermostat and the master user. So if your friend is setting up your thermostat, make sure he’s using your phone to do it. One of the steps you have to create a Google nest account and that’s what your thermostat is tied to.

hmm... bummer.
When you say "The phone that sets up the Nest thermostat Is the controlling phone" I assume you mean the Account logged in to the Home app, and not the physical phone itself?
I was hoping not need to make the 6-hour (each way) trip just to setup the thermostat.

To have your friend set up the Nest thermostat, you would need to let him sign into your account, create the new home, and add the thermostat. He can do this using his phone.
Devices are locked to an account, not a phone.
