App connection problems in Google Nest Thermostat

bobaloo46

My google nest thermostat has problems staying connected to the internet only in the app.It will stay connected for maybe a day or two then goes offline. The wall mounted unit always stays connected so it’s  not a problem.I have restarted the modem, removed the app and reinstalled it ,,new battery; all the things that I know how to do.Getting to be very frustrating not to solve this problem

I don’t think I’m going to mess with the router settings;everything in my house works just fine except the app for the google nest thermostat. It will just have to be a regular thermostat with no ability to change remotely.I don’t want to make changes I’m not sure of.

Hi there,

I understand that this step is a little out of the way, but it's a great start to isolate the issue further, and check if your devices are communicating properly with your Nest app.

Best,

Jenelyn

I think I’m going to leave this alone. My internet works fine with everything in my house and I’m not comfortable playing with something I don’t have confidence in changing.I will just have a thermostat that will not have remote capabilities.

Hey bobaloo46,

Thanks for getting back to us, and I'm sorry to hear about what you've gone through about the situation — that is not what we want you to feel.

Interference can be hard to identify and resolve since it’s dependent on the environment. We can do as much as possible to help identify and resolve Interference issues, but ultimately, this may be something you have to resolve on your end and may include contacting your Internet Service Provider or router manufacturer to check for your WiFi router settings

Hey bobaloo46,

Understood. However, a part of the troubleshooting step is to check the WiFi router settings of your Nest Thermostat with the help of your ISP or router manufacturer by updating your router’s software or firmware.

Parental controls or security settings on the router configure the thermostat not to connect to the Wi-Fi network. In this case, I am referring you to reach out to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or router manufacturer’s website for information on how to adjust parental controls and security settings because it varies between different routers, and some ISPs have special controls for these settings.

If you've confirmed these settings and are still having the same situation, please let us know, as I would be happy to look into it and assist you more.

Best,

Zoe
