Hi, we have a system with a heat pump and auxiliary furnace heating and we are on a time-of-day rate plan for electric (meaning that electricity is cheapest from midnight - 3pm). I'd like to take advantage of electric heating during off-peak hours and switch to gas during the peak-peak hours (5-9pm). Short of changing the equipment settings (ie always use aux fuel) twice a day I can't seem to figure out if there's a way to do this.
Thanks,
Nick.

Hi zaphod,
Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry for the delay.
You can only choose heat pump heating to work with your Nest Thermostat schedules. Auxiliary heat on the other hand will turn on once needed by your Nest Thermostat.
You may check this article to learn more about Heat pumps and Aux heat for Nest Thermostats.
Feel free to message again if you have questions. We're here to help.
Best,
Zoe
