My Nest 3rd gen started dying my C wire is working and it's getting power however the battery does not hold its charge and it dies quickly even when I charge it with the USB. The unit also seems to get very hot when I charge it with the USB port whether I plug it in to the wall or my computer and the battery just dies it works for maybe 30 to 45 minutes and then it shuts off. It disconnected from the Wi-Fi months ago and I am not able to connect back to the Wi-Fi my router is close by literally right next to it so it should not have a problem is there a way I can change the battery? I think it's bizarre to have a unit that gets constant energy and easy rechargeable battery and when the battery goes bad the whole unit doesn't work even though it's getting power. Blows my mind.
Thanks for your help

Hi @Anny425,
Thanks for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Gen) isn't holding a charge and connecting to your Wi-Fi because the battery dies quickly. I understand how concerning this may be, especially since your thermostat gets hot when you charge it using a USB cable. No worries, I'd be more than glad to provide more details with you.
Since you've already tried multiple troubleshooting steps to resolve the battery issue, which I appreciate, but with no positive result, the team would like to learn more about this behavior. When you get a chance, please fill out this form and let us know when you’re finished. We’ll have someone reach out to you via email from there. Please be sure to include your community username and the link to this thread.
Regards,
Jonathan
