Get a flashing green and yellow light. No screen. Can't install as I did my other three 3rd generation learning thermostats. Before driving all the way back to get a refund, I wanted to see if anyone knows what can be done to install?

Hello Eel1,
Thanks for reaching out to us about your new Nest Thermostat that won't turn on. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.
The thermostat's battery is dead because it was locked in storage for a long time or because the installation or wire setup is incorrect. Please share with us a photo of your old thermostat and Nest Thermostat's wiring setup. Then, try charging the display for an hour using a USB charger. Also, make sure that all wires are properly connected and the tabs are pushed down.
So I did find a helpful article with troubleshooting when your thermostat won't turn on, and let us know if you need more help.
Regards,
Mark

Mark, thanks.
I remembered a trick I learned with computers and just switched the thermostats to an another location, wired exactly the same as it is the same system in the whole house, obviously. One red, one white for heating only. The problem followed the thermostat as it didn't work in the different location, but the one that was working before continued to work in the different location, after a short reset. The refurbished one, further more, would not work in the location that the prior working thermostat had.
With the problem following the newly purchased refurbished thermostat, I made the one-hour drive Best Buy to take back. I'm giving Google one more chance. I ordered another refurbished since one of my previously 3 working thermostats was refurbished as well.
I think was a problem with the Q.C. in this particular unit. We'll see how the incoming refurbished one works out when it arrives in a few days. Thxs for checking in.
