Nest schedule keeps reverting to old settings/other settings

I have a Nest thermostat 3rd generation which I have successfully controlled from my iPhone via the Nest app.

My iPhone features the very latest IOS app update.

I always use the manual scheduling in the app, and have switched off all of the auto-schedule/Home-Away features.

As winter approaches and I have switched the heating back on, I changed the schedule.

However, within 24 hours, the schedule had reverted to some other schedule that I don't recognise. 

I have now rescheduled four times, and each time the same thing happens.This is extremely challenging, as some of the settings leave the heating on all day and/or all night.

I have tried restarting the thermostat, but that doesn't help.

Please advise urgently! Joe

Hi joehum,

 

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. I'm sorry for the trouble. To confirm, when you reset your Nest Thermostat schedule, do you choose to clear your schedule and start a new one? 

 

Also, it looks like you already switched off your thermostat's features affecting your schedule in the app. Please try turning off those features directly on your thermostat device. 

 

Please take a look at this guide on how to disable smart features:  

 

Home/Away Assist

  1. Go to the thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Select Home/Away Assist then turn it off.

Auto Schedule

  1. Go to the thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Look for Nest Sense.
  3. Select Auto Schedule then turn it  off.

 

After disabling those features, monitor if the issue persists.

As already stated, Jenelyn, I have turned all those features off already.

As also stated, this is because I prefer to manually programme on the app.

But the schedule on the app just resets itself to a particular set of timings, no matter what I change on the schedule.

UPDATE...I've now learned to programme the schedule manually on the thermostat itself (instead of on my phone app), and that works. The settings I put in on the thermostat then share to the app. But still, anything I change or add on the app just disappears/resets.

That's no good, as I need to be able to change the heating schedule manually when I'm not at home, or up in my bedroom, by altering the schedule on the app.

It seems the errors lie in the app, not in the thermostat itself.

btw software version on the thermostat itself is up to date.

@joehum, I'm sorry to hear that you need to repeat the settings you've changed because they didn't go through. I understand how inconvenience it is to have something you set don't change. Please make sure to always restart your devices, such as your thermostat and phone, to make sure they reflect the changes made. Also, have you tried checking the Routines in the Google Home app? If you installed it, check for any thermostat actions that trigger you to revert back to the old settings.

I have restarted my devices. It still doesn’t work. I have deleted and reinstalled the app. No change. I don’t use Google home, only the Nest app. please advise.
