Can't add Thermostat to Google Home App

Hopkins_Family

I'm trying to add the 3rd Gen Google nest Learning Thermostat to Google Home. But when adding a device that 'Works with Google' it sends me to a Nest login page. There is no option to sign in with Google, it just asks for a Nest password. So I hit the 'forgotten password' button fill with my google account email address and I do not receive a reset password email.

What is going on? This is so frustrating!

There is no option to use Google sign in, it does not recognise my password, and will not send a password reset message.

I am totally stuck. This is a very poor experience.

Help anybody?

We don't have a Nest thermostat, but the Nest Learning Thermostat is one of the Nest thermostats that gets installed in the Google Nest app rather than in the Google Home app. Trying to install it in the Google Home app simply will not work (and the "Works with Google" option is really for non-Google devices that can work with Google Nest).

Like other Google Nest devices that get installed in the Google Nest app, it should automatically appear in the Google Home app once it is installed, provided that you are logging into both apps with the same Google (gmail) account (and using the same Google Nest "home/structure" in both apps if you want to access your thermostat along  with your other Google Nest devices).

(When we installed our Google Nest Hello Doorbell in the Google Nest app earlier this year, it automatically appeared in the Google Home app.)

This is part of Google Nest's 2-app approach for many Google Nest devices that is a cause of much confusion. Hopefully, the pending updates announced by Google Nest a week ago in this forum will start bringing our devices into one app.

That's got it working, Slight difference of names for the Hall / Hallway in both Apps! Renamed Hallway to Hall in the Nest App and it's popped into the Google Home App & now works with voice control. Thanks for putting me onto that track.
