Can't add nest thermostat to Google home

Hi - I have a nest set up in the nest app. I signed in using my Google account.

I want to share access with family members so have tried to set up on Google home.

If I scan the device from Google home the app doesn't recognise it and if I try to link through to nest it doesn't recognise my Google account as my nest account

I feel like I am going round in circles! Pls help!

When you install a Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E in the Google Nest app, it is supposed to appear in the Google Home app AUTOMATICALLY, as long as you're logging onto both apps with the same Google Account and are connecting to the same Google Nest "home/structure" and have assigned the thermostat to a "room" in the Google Nest app. However, if you search this forum, you'll find that has not been happening for many customers.

Many customers have done the following to fix the problem: In the Google Nest app, create a second, temporary Google Nest "home/structure". In the Google Home app, go to that empty Google Nest "home/structure" and delete it. It seems this forces the 2 apps to sync and the thermostat appears in the Google Home app.

Amazing. Thank you!

A unorthodox but effective fix!

I had a new boiler and nest learning thermostat installed yesterday and have had the same issue as many others - Nest working in Nest app but not showing on Google Home app.

I read lots of comments and saw the create new Home and transfer all item. This seemed a little long winded so I tried something slightly different which worked

I solved this issue by

Opening the Nest app and changing the room (I changed it to Attick as this was not yet used in Google Home app)

Checked it was still working in Nest app

Opened Google Home - Nest now appeared in Home app in Attick

Still in Google Home opened the Nest thermostat and selected settings and changed location from Attick to Living room.

All now working through Google Home app and with voice commands through Google mini speaker.

After this I went back to Nest app and changed location from Attick to living room.

IMHO everything had been set up correctly and should have worked correctly. I think that there is an issue with the labels for rooms conflicting whereby if you already have the room setup in Google Home it will not accept a second version of this room with the same name from the Nest app.
