Hi I am trying to connect to a Nest thermostat that was installed by a previous tenant. Here's a brief rundown of what I have tried:
1. I have Wifi from Google Fiber and all devices are connected
2. tried multiple times with Google Home on my Android phone, QR code gives me an error about not being able to access the configuration, if I go via setup code I get to a screen asking me to enter the last 4 digits of the serial but with no way to enter them
3. Restarted my phone, reset the thermostart, reset the thermostat to factory defaults
4. Installed and reinstalled Google Home multiple times. Similarly can't use QR code, going through setup takes me through all the steps of physical installation (turn off power at breaker, etc) but at the end it cannot connect to the thermostat.
Not sure what is going on but is it possible that the thermostat is "owned" by the previous tenant, even after a factory reset?
Any other ideas?
Posting some images below.
Thanks

It looks like you have the 3rd Gen Learning Thermostat, which must be set up using the Nest App and not the Google Home app.
