Can’t connect a nest thermostat to either Google Home or the Nest App

Hi, My nest thermostat is connected to Wi-Fi but I’m not able to connect it to the Nest or Google Home app. Google can’t find the device so I scan the QR code and then nothing happens. The app just goes back to the main screen. On Nest I scan the QR code, it shows Assisting Device then says something went wrong. I have rest the thermostat once and tried to connect to both apps as well. If anyone can help.

The Nest Learning Thermostat gets installed in the Google Nest app.

The "assisting device" error is a Google Nest bug that's been around for a long time. Some customers in this forum report they have been able to get around them by temporarily turning off their other Google Nest devices.
