I bought a remote home with an older model of the nest thermostat. It has been connected to use remotely with a propane heat pump. I have an iPhone, my husband has an android. We have all required apps ((nest/google home) yet neither of use can connect. My daughter used her phone and connected immediately. Any suggestions?

Hi @Starlitt
Check which model of thermostat you have:

If you have a Nest Thermostat E or Nest Learning Thermostat 1st or 2nd gen those are no longer supported and can no longer be controlled using the app I'm afraid. There are 3rd party firmware updates, but those are not officially supported by Google.

Sigh…. It is 2nd gen. So am I needing to buy a new one? Newer version?

Yeah, it is a bummer. If you do not want to flash 3rd party firmware then you will need to buy a newer Nest thermostat.
