Hi,
I just purchased a nest thermostat E.
As I'd read online prior to my purchase, it came with its battery drained and only managed to get the screen to light up after charching it not through its base but the the micro usb port.
After more then fourty eight hours of charging, the green light keeps flashing and the screen alternating between "Please attach the display to its base" and "Please remove the thermostat from its base, then reattach it" when I do. And while bluetooth pairing seems to be working if only temporarily, I can't get the thermostat to connect to my wifi, when I know that typed my password correctly.
I have a hunch that the two issues are connected, and that the thermostat might not be charged enough and disconnects automatically from the wifi. None of the troobleshooting advice on nest's help pages has worked so far. I frankly never expected the set up to be this much trouble and Google instructions to be so baffilingly unhelpful. The charging issue seems well documented yet is totally unadressed in the manual.
Anyone's been through similar issues? Thank you for your help!

Quick update. When reattached to its base (which is plugged in), the screen now says "the power from your equipment may be off" (which it isn't) and then restarts. This has happened three times now. I wonder if the base might be at fault.

Hi Jeremy,
thanks for your reply!
When attached to its base, the thermostat seems to be losing its charge in the matter of only a few hours.
Thanks again for helping!
Best regards,

Hi @tobi_paris!
I appreciate your attempts to resolve the Nest Thermostat inconvenience; nevertheless, due to the high voltage in your system, I would advise you to contact a Nest professional installer. This is primarily for your protection. Professional installation and service.
Regards,
Jeremy.
